Organic fertilizer and organic pesticide - It grows on trees you know...
In Mandvi in Gujarat (western India) i got to visit a small scale organic fertiliser project. The wonderful Neem tree, (aka: The Divine Tree, The Heal All Tree, Nature's Drugstore, Village Pharmacy) contains antihelminthic, antifungal, antidiabetic, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fertility properties. That’s a lot of anti’s! It is a major component in Ayurvedic medicine and is even be used by farmers as toothpaste! In the off season when the farmers are out of work this project gives them employment making organic fertilizer and organic pesticide from the Neem tree’s seeds. They gather the Neem seeds, dry them, press them, grind them and hay presto lots of lovely Neem oil oozes out which is an ideal organic pesticide and the husky part is made into a cake (no not the birthday variety) which is an excellent organic fertilizer- Hurrah!

By buying one of our New Season Men's T-Shirts you're providing extra income to farmers in rural India. They get given a premium on all the Fairtrade cotton they grow, and can then spend this on things like education, clean drinking water and irrigation. And best of all, they get to decide how to spend it, meaning the money goes on what they need the most!

The fashion show went really well last night, there were lots of great labels there. Not only did we see loads of great clothes, but there were interviews with Fairtrade farmers and well known figures like Harry Hill and Sir Steve Redgrave!
